Suffolk County New York

Just like the name suggests, Suffolk County was established by a group of early English settlers who migrated from England’s Suffolk County in the late 1600s. The county is listed as one of the first 12 counties to be established in today’s State of New York. Suffolk occupies the easternmost section of the island and is thus the easternmost county in New York State. Being New York’s second-largest county in terms of size, the county is home to a population of a little over 1.48 million people.

During its early stages of development, Suffolk was one of the most productive agricultural zones in the State. Even today, the county has managed to maintain its agricultural prowess despite the widespread urban development.

Suffolk County and the neighboring Nassau County have come to be known as some of the wealthiest counties in the United States. The County boasts of a low crime rate, a well-established education system, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and a wealth of world-class attractions that bring hundreds of thousands of visitors to Long Island every year.
